im 18 %26amp; im a # 2nd Gup: Red Belt in Taekwondo also i want 2 learn ninjutsu do you think its to late 2 start %26amp; how long will it take to get to the highest level of ninjutsu|||mate ,the Ninja don%26#039;t exist, they died out years ago...
You could try Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, however if you want to be a ninjer, we don%26#039;t want you. Sorry, I don%26#039;t mean to be mean about it (but if you read all posts here you%26#039;ll understand why)
oh and %26quot;highest level of ninjutsu%26quot;? about 40 years you might match some of our top shihan.
And no you%26#039;re not too old to start. A lot of Bujinkan dojos have an age limit of 18 before you can start! :)
to Shihan J:
I find it very unfortunate that most people see Ninjutsu arts from your viewpoint, however I cannot blame you for I have seen it myself. This problem we face in the Bujinkan is down to the type of neo-ninjers (usually from the US, sorry this is widely down to population size) who join, and unfortunatly post clips of themselves on Youtube and challenge people to %26quot;real%26quot; fights. These are the wallies who are acting like ambassadors to our art and know really nothing about it. None of the really skilled in the bujinkan would ever present themselves in this way, and believe me when I say there are literally thousands of decent Shidoshi and Shihan in our art, that have no interest in being a Ninja. Hence why we are no longer Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu, that name attracted the wrong type of person.
2 Shihan J: I understand completely :) and I know you%26#039;re more than likely not talking about Bujinkan, as you said that some Ninjutsu dojos are opened by instructors with less than a years training, and I find it hard to believe that even the worst Bujinkan dojo in the world could be that bad! I know the ones you refer to and you%26#039;re right to be cautious and give the advise you gave the OP...no harm done :) yours in Budo, Boojer
PS - I also like the idea about regulation of world legitimate dojos.
JWbulldogs is also correct..stay away from anyone who emphasises those kind of speeches...especially any dojo who claims legit Koga ryu ninjutsu (also another sign is that they will spell it Ninjitsu, this is a mispelling, as small and silly as it sounds its a dead givaway).
To David L: I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s sounds stupid, at least you%26#039;re being honest and you are somewhat young...My own shidoshi got into it too thinking the Ninja RULED! In the same sense but back in the early 80%26#039;s...but as he got more into it he realised that his comic book idea was not nearly a millionth as interesting in the actual budo teachings involved...|||it should take you about 5 months then you can open up your own ninja training camp.
i hate to rip in to styles but the unfortunate fact is that 99% of the ninja dojos are rip offs. and the instructors have little training. i know several people that teach ninjitsu and they all trained less then a year before opening there own place. and have little skills to back up there art.
as much as i hate to say it. you should look into a different style or stay with tkd.
i%26#039;m sure there are a couple of legitimate dojo%26#039;s but they are few and very far between. out of the 80 or so ninja%26#039;s i have fort, there was only few were any good and had training
edit:%26gt;boojer, like i said i hate to say anything bad about a style. and i dont blame the style of ninjitsu i blame the con artist that claim it%26#039;s ninjitsu. i feel they are a deep embarrassment to the art, as well as too martial arts in general.
and like i said i%26#039;m sure there are some people that do teach it correctly and are not the con artist that i was talking about.
this is also why i wish there was some kind of way to enforce regulation in this county all dojo%26#039;s to weed out these mcdojo%26#039;s not just in one style but all styles.
i do not have a stance on the bujinkan dojos as i have not work out with anyone from them. it pains me enough just to even mention a style.
and as i have said in the past it is not the style that matters but the instructors.
the people that i know of to the best of my knowledge do Not belong to bujinkan dojos and were never associated with them.|||Beware of ninjutsu schools. Many are unqualified as the above post mentions.
Bujinjan Budo Taijitsu is possibly the exception. I have trained a little at a Bujinkan school in my area but I am not a student there (yet) and the instructor knows his stuff. There is supposed a site that identifies qualified instructors and their officialy status with the Bujinkan organization.
http://www.tacticalselfdefense.com/Bujin...
The above link has links for the certificates issued to instructors. Again, I can%26#039;t speak to the authenticity of this site, but it%26#039;s something to think about.|||Keep training in martial arts. If ninjas are your obsession buy a book or rent some videos. There are no real ninjas today. There are those that claim to be a ninja because they have studied ninjitsu or ninjutsu.
I have sen too many false claims. I am the only or last student of a real ninja. I am the only student that has been allowed to teach ninjustsu in the west. We only teach real life applications.
All of those are signs to be careful. That is a warning sign to stay away.
They have taken away a lot of money by this type of advertising. The only thing disappearing is your money.
I know a guy that for many years he wanted to learn ninjitsu. He would come and work out with us. His best friend was one of our students. He moved out of state. This guy finally started taking ninjitsu classes. Years later he comes back to show us the he has his black belt. His techniques are bad. His stances are bad. he can%26#039;t fight. But we never tell him about this. He come to us for advice and techniques. He has no desire to learn our katas unless it is a weapons kata. Now there is one thing that he can do is roll around on the floor.
