dmaud: that%26#039;s some serious typing dude. He%26#039;s just looking for a Bujinkan school. Which there are many of in NYC. He%26#039;s not looking to join the CIA or MI6, or an essay on why China deserves credit for the war. I assume he just wants to train in Taijutsu and old style weapons, like the rest of us. Now if he had asked %26quot;I want to be a ninja%26quot;, your post would be fairly valid.
EDIT: some ppl here are referring you to Koga ryu ninjutsu schools. Just do some research on any school you are about to join...|||Dude, you can%26#039;t learn the ninja arts, at least not the modern ones. Assuming the ninja are still around, if they are, they are probably extremely modern. I am thinking computer stuff, high tech gadgets, a whole bunch of James Bond type stuff. Oh and speaking of James Bond; believe it or not, the character inspired real world spy agencies to make high tech gadgetry. Prior to the James Bond series, all spies had to rely on, was their brain and a short wave radio. Actually scratch that, radio signals were out of the question; it was all done through networks. One spy would give a message to another, and down the chain all the way to the top brass. Everything was done by word of mouth if you will, so that there would be no traceable evidence.
Nevertheless, working entirely on memory is extremely difficult, and believe it or not the Bond films inspired real world espionage agencies to make crap to make their jobs easier like I said, everything ranging from highly potent chemical poisons that will kill you in half a second, to highly likely those neat communicator watches. If you can imagine it, odds are the use it.
Now, what this has to do with being a Ninja; dude, don%26#039;t you think if they were still around that they would not have adapted to modern espionage? The Ninja of feudal era Japan were all about being cutting edge for their time, using the latest technology to get the job done. Also, even then, all the breaking and entering stuff, the crap you see in the movies, was done only as a last resort, when information could not be obtained from manipulating people. Given this, dude, why the HELL would you want to learn Nijitsu? Odds are is an out of date martial art even as far as the Ninja are concerned and yes, some martial arts CAN be out of date.
For instance Kenjutsu; that is a martial art, its the art of the sword. How many Navy SEALS have you seen wielding swords lately? Get my point? Unarmed combat will never be out of date, regardless of style because as Bruce Lee said, unless people start growing dragon tails, or extra arms or legs, unarmed combat will remain the same so with unarmed combat there is no such thing as an %26quot;out of date%26quot; style. However dealing with weapons, that%26#039;s something else; chances are, operating under the very BIG assumption that the Ninja are still around, odds are their guys probably use ultra high tech silenced pistols instead of shuriken.
Anything the CIA has, odds are the Ninja have it too, operating under the assumption they are still around why, with Japan%26#039;s military having been dismantled and all. This begs the question though, if the Ninja still exist, where the hell were they in WWII? Were indeed; makes you wonder how tiny Japan, was able to take over the colossus that is China, always seemingly 4 steps ahead of the Chinese army. It also makes you wonder how the hell tiny Japan was fighting a two front war against both China and the U.S., playing both sides for fools with their infamous use of decoys and disinformation.
We all know how the war turned out; but, crap, you can not fight both China and the United States and expect to win. Understandable why no one wants them to rearm; Japan is a scary little country isn%26#039;t it?
Very little credit is given to China in the pacific theater of the war; the only reason U.S. forces were able to win, is because the Japanese could not commit themselves to fending off their islands 100%. It really, really pisses me off how the U.S. hogs up all the credit for the pacific theater; China was fighting that war too, and if anything, for them it incured heavier losses and it was a lot closer to home.
I%26#039;ll just go out and say it; had China chosen to work with the Japanese rather than fight them, atom bomb and all, the U.S. would not have defeated Japan, they barely took midway and the Japanese weren%26#039;t even there 100%. It wasn%26#039;t the whole of the Japanese fleet, fighting the Chinese army in pitched land battles was suicide, they had to keep a large chunk of it near the Chinese coastline.
China deserves credit; their furious struggle against Japan kept Japan weak enough for the U.S. to win. It could be argued that China was the pacific theater%26#039;s Stalingrad; I%26#039;m sure China had a battle akin to the Russian Stalingrad.
Yup........ Japan is a scary little country alright; for all we know maybe the Ninja ARE still around.|||New York Budokan
